Ring of Steall, 8c+ af Dave MacLeod i Glen Nevis - 06 Aug 2007
|
Claire og Dave MacLeod der fornyligt flyttede fra Dumbarton til Glen Nevis lige udenfor Fort William i Skotland, har projekteret en del i deres nye lokale crags, specielt i Steall Crag i Glen Nevis. Her har MacLeod sat flere hårde ruter, heriblandt Stolen 8b. Og nu har han lavet første ascent af Ring of Steall, 8c+ i Steall hut Crag. Ruten blev første gang forsøgt klatret af Dave Cuthbertson i starten af halvfemserne.

"This project has been an inspiration simmering in the back of my head for ten years. It was equipped and tried by Cubby in the early nineties and he worked hard on it, coming very close to getting past the crux section before injury and work got in the way and the momentum was lost. I’ve talked with Dave about the project many times since and it was always a huge goal for either of us. If Dave had done it in ’92, it would have been one of the top five sport routes in the world at the time – an incredible effort." .....and about the crux move "the most beautiful move I’ve ever experienced on rock...It’s the ultimate move – when performed with technical excellence, it´s easy. But if you don’t move the limbs in the correct sequence of subtle shifts, no amount of strength or psyche will make any impression." And finishes with "Having completed this route, if I had to give up climbing tomorrow due to some disaster, I’d be satisfied with my effort."

14-årige Adam Ondra fra Tjekkiet har klatret Alexandre Chabot's masterpiece Abuss i bare tre forsøg. Det er tredje ascent af ruten efter Alexandre Chabot's første og Andreas Bindhammer's andet ascent.

16-årige Tyler Landman har flashet problemet The vince pinch, 8A+ i Squamish. Senere lavede han en "8B-low start". Tyler har herudover klatret yderligere to 8A+'ere indenfor den sidste uges tid.

Realization af Graham - 30 Jul 2007

David Graham klatrede for et par timer siden Realization (Biographie extension), 9a+ i Ceüse. Ruten som består af en 8c+ sektion klatret første gang af Arnaud Petit plus 20 meter 8b+ forlængelse. Hele ruten blev første gang klatret af Chris i 2001. Selve ruten blev boltet og navngivet Biographie af Jean-Christophe Lafaille i 1989. Senere blev den delt op i to af Arnaud Petit, som satte et anker ca. halvvejs oppe.
Realization: FA af Chris Sharma, andet af Sylvain Millet, tredje af Patxi Usobiaga og nu fjerde af David Graham.

Tredje 8c af Charlotte Durif - 27 Jul 2007
|
Et par dage efter at have vundet Serre-Chevalier Masters klatrede Charlotte Durif sin tredje 8c "Beberetchos" i La Verriere (Gorges de la Durbie, Frankrig). Durif behøvede bare tre forsøg for at sætte den 22 meter lange rute.
