8c onsight af Ramonet - 31 May 2006
|
Ramón Julian Puigblanque har onsightet Suma0, 8c i Cuenca. Ruten er 32 meter lang og overhænger med 10 meter. Det er tredje gang (fjerde hvis tæller Hirayama's onsight/flash med) at denne grad er blevet onsightet

Restrictions in Santa Linya - 31 May 2006

Access problems are starting to arise. Last week we published the Chironico's and now it is the time to publicize two types of prohibition for this high level laboratory in Lleida (Spain):
1.- It's completely banned to climb in the cave from June the 15th till August the 15th due to some archeological excavations; and,
2- It's forbidden to climb on a part of the cave for ever, it makes up to 10 routes Santa Línea, 8b, and nine other. Luckily, this should mean the left side with shorter and more vertical routes!?

Access i Göteborg - 30 May 2006

Vi er blevet kontaktet af Calle Martins fra Göteborg KK, som har bedt os om at informere om reglerne omkr. access i Göteborg. Göteborg KK finder dette nødvendigt, da flere danske klatrere vælger at campere i Utby.

Tristan Lopez klatrede d. 24. maj sin første 9a, Q.T.R. i El Chorro. Bare her i majmåned har Tritan klatret Onil (variante) 8c+, Sella og Onil 8c, Fondri 8b+, agost, ponoch og crevillente 8b samt otte 8a+'ere og ni 8a'ere. Tristan har i 2006 klatret 110 ruter graderet 8a eller hårdere!!

Serious PROBLEMS in Chironico - 24 May 2006
|
Chironico in the ticino (Swizterland) is a classic bouldering area. But things are getting out of control during the BIG weekends. People are putting up fires, which is forbidden in the whole area because of EXTREME danger of forest fires all year long (if caught, the penalty is several hundred Euros!!). People are parking their cars on the farmers' fields and camping right next to the path down to the bouldering area (this is also HIGLHY forbidden, free camping is forbidden in the whole of Switzerland!). The problem is that if this doesn't stop - chironoco will be CLOSED to climbers!!!
This weekend (and the next one too) the crowd will be back in chironico for some pleasant bouldering. Everybody is welcome but PLEASE obey the following rules:
Don't camp in and around the boulder area , use outside camping areas.
Don't park your cars on the farmers' fields, use the parking at the church or the spot BEFORE you drive down the road.
Don't make fires, it is forbidden
This weekend there will be local climbers that will inform people friendly - but if there are some stupid guys who don't respect the rules - the POLICE will escort them out of chironico - and it will be costly!!!So, welcome everybody that agrees on treating the nature with respect - we hope you will enjoy the bouldering session on some of the best swiss-granit.

Tilmelding til The North Face Challenge 2006 - 23 May 2006

Den 10. juni står Århus i bouldercuppens tegn
Konkurrencen bliver afholdt med en total-boulder kvalifikation bestående af 12 ruter fra 5 til 7b. Fra kvalifikationen går 12 kvinder og 12 mænd videre til finalerne der klatres on-sight, med 6 minutter til hvert af de 6 finaleproblemer. Formen der også er kendt fra Bouldercuppen.

One-Day Ascent af Native Son - 22 May 2006
|
Ammon McNeely klatrede sammen med sin "speedpartner" Ivo Ninov sin 11. one-day ascent på El Capitan, denne gang Native Son som blev klaret på imponerende 23 timer og 53 minuter. Native Son(5.9 A4 -- 26 pitches) er en de stejleste ruter på El Cap og går på højre side af sydøst væggen mellem Iron Hawk og Tangerine Trip.
McNeely er i øjeblikket indehaver af otte speedrekorder på El Cap. I februar 2003 lavede han tre speedrekorder på en dag på Zion’s big walls sammen med Brian McCray. Native Son var McNeely's 49. ascent, 36. rute og 19. speedrekord på El Cap igennem tiden.
